Dear Historic Preservationists,

The executive planning committee for Preserving Historic Places met this morning, March 13, and decided to postpone our South Bend conference, April 14-17. Earlier this week we were still moving forward with plans for a record-breaking turnout and Mayor Mueller went on local television to share his city’s enthusiasm for hosting us. But our desire to safeguard the health of everyone and accommodate attendees facing travel bans has convinced us that postponement is our only option.

Please note that we said postponed, not canceled. This means our next Preserving Historic Places conference will still take place in South Bend. It’s been such a pleasure working with our local committee and venues that we can’t imagine passing up this opportunity.

Many of you will remember that prior to 2010, our conference was always held in the fall. The postponement of our spring date allows us to revisit the idea of returning to the fall. Over the next couple of weeks, our executive planning committee will review alternative conference dates for the fall of 2020 and spring of 2021. Watch for a “Save the Date” message in your email.

Paid registrants can expect a full refund credited to their original form of payment within 30 days (if not sooner). Please bear with us as we process these transactions. If you have questions regarding your refund, you are welcome to contact us at [email protected]. To cancel any individual reservations made at Aloft South Bend, please reach out to the hotel directly for a refund.

Thank you everyone for your support of our conference and this difficult decision.  We hope to see you in South Bend soon!
